tonight Where the mile eats

The mile has a shopping center and a few restaurants on its two streets, and more places for a night out once you leave it: Lauderdale-by-the-Sea to the north and the rest of the island to the south.

On the mile

Here's what you can walk to on the mile's two streets.

If you remember Green Bar & Kitchen at 3429 Galt Ocean Drive, it has closed.

Casa Calabria, on the beach street

Casa Calabria is at 4040 Galt Ocean Drive, inside Ocean Manor on the sand side of the mile, and it's open to the public, not just hotel guests. Dinner is Tuesday through Sunday (closed Monday), with happy hour Tuesday through Friday from 5 to 7. There's live music Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 7 to 10 and Friday and Saturday from 8 to 11, and Thursday is ladies night from 8.

The terrace faces the beach. Hours do change, so call or check the restaurant's site the day you go.

Bamboo Beach Tiki Bar, same address

Bamboo Beach Tiki Bar & Cafe sits on the beach side of Ocean Manor at 4040 Galt Ocean Drive, and like Casa Calabria it's open to the public. It's open from 7:00 AM to 2:00 AM Sunday through Thursday and from 7:00 AM to 3:00 AM on Friday and Saturday, with happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 7.

As of April 2026, the bar had tables out on the beach. There's more on its page in the directory, and it's on Instagram. If you're timing a visit, see spring break on the mile, or this weekend for what's on now.

In the marketplace

Galt Ocean Marketplace, at 3700 to 4032 North Ocean Boulevard, is where the mile runs its errands, right on A1A, and it has its own marketplace page. For food there's DaVinci's Pizzeria, Ocean's Grille at 3720, Ariana's Cucina, NY Deli, Dunkin', and McDonald's at the north end. CVS is the pharmacy, and the Winn-Dixie supermarket has closed. Monk's Wine & Liquor Cave is a bottle shop, not somewhere to sit down and eat.

Tenants come and go, so trust the sign on the door. Every restaurant here and nearby is in the directory with its hours and phone number.

A short walk south

Greek Islands Taverna is at 3300 North Ocean Boulevard, a few blocks south of the marketplace on A1A, and it's open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Blue Jean Blues is just off A1A at 3320 NE 33rd Street, a few streets north of Oakland Park Boulevard, with live music and a daily happy hour. There's more about it on the barrier-island page.

The mile ends to the south at Oakland Park Boulevard. Right by that bridge, on the Intracoastal side, is Shooters, the waterfront restaurant people think of as the doorway off the mile, though it isn't on Galt Ocean Drive itself.

After dark

Most of the boulevard closes early, the way a neighborhood street does: the pharmacy, the coffee, a pizza counter, a grille. For a night out, Casa Calabria on Galt Ocean Drive has dinner, live music and a happy hour, Bamboo Beach Tiki Bar in the same building stays open late, and Blue Jean Blues, just off A1A, has live music most nights.
